President Azali Assoumani can claim victory on the referendum. According to the Independent Electoral Commission of the Comoros, the constitutional amendments reinforcing the President's powers were approved in a referendum by 92.74% of the voters, against 7.26% of the voters who voted "no".

The Malian President Ibrahim Boubakar Keita claims he is leading presidential polls according to provisional vote count in the west African country. However, even if his victory is confirmed, there is a big probability he's not going to clinch a first round victory thus the possibility of the vote entering a runoff as by law required.

Recently defections cost Nigeria's ruling party, the APC (All Progressives Congress) its senate majority. More than a dozen senators walked out on the ruling party and joined the main opposition coalition, which has the PDP (People's Democratic Party) as the main standard-bearer.
